Our Story
Hair Response was founded in 1985 by Barbara Goldberg, inspired by her own experience with hair loss at age 10 due to Alopecia Areata. After struggling to find a place that offered both compassion and understanding, she knew she was meant to create one herself.
Barbara envisioned a private, supportive environment where individuals could feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. In 1989, her daughter Amy joined the business. Growing up with a mother who experienced hair loss gave Amy a deep, personal connection to the work and a natural ability to relate to clients with empathy and insight.
When Barbara retired in 2007, Amy carried the mission forward with the same heartfelt dedication. At Hair Response, we're not a retail wig shop. We're a place where people are seen, supported, and guided with care through every step of their hair loss journey.

Hair Response isn't a retail wig shop. We're a private, by-appointment office in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where every client receives personalized, compassionate care from start to finish. Our appointment-only model exists for one reason: so that every person gets our full, undivided attention, with no rushing and no waiting around. Each consultation takes place in a private room where you can speak openly and comfortably, and what you share stays between us.
We serve clients throughout the Chicago suburbs, including Buffalo Grove, Northbrook, Deerfield, Highland Park, Palatine, Long Grove, and Barrington, and we regularly welcome people traveling from across Illinois and neighboring states. Whatever the cause of your hair loss, whether it's alopecia, chemotherapy, a medical condition, or genetic thinning, you'll receive the same personalized attention. Everything we do is customized to you: your measurements, your hair loss pattern, your lifestyle. Our clients don't feel like customers. They become part of the Hair Response family.
